Teton Dam Race Day

Saturday, June 8, 2013

I have decided that I could be a professional running race watcher.  I always come away from races with a desire to be healthier and motivation to try hard things.  I love the running atmosphere.  It is so refreshing to be around people who have paid and trained to run the race.  The racers aren't there because they have to.  Watching races and actually running myself is so emotional for me, I think because I find so many applications to real life.

This morning was an inspiring one.  I packed up Hyrum and Afton and went to watch their Daddy run a 10k.  Some of Blaine's family members ran the 5k.  It was so great to start the day out being outdoors and cheering people on to their individual victories!  I was so proud of all of them!  Yay for race day jitters!

Baby Afton was all cozy as she waited to watch Daddy on the race course.

Hyrum enjoyed his muffin and playtime on the grass in the early morning sunshine.

Hyrum was excited to see his daddy running!

This is one of my favorite characteristics that Blaine has...to stop what he is doing and just enjoy being a husband and daddy.  He never seems to much in a rush, even in a race, to make sure we know that he loves us!

Jamie finishing her first 5k.  Way to go girl!  Blaine got to cheer his littler sister on as she finished the race by running across the finish line with her.

THE RACE FINISHERS

MY husband.  Yes that's right, this man is my handsome husband.

Jena's confidence to wear these pants is refreshing!  I am seriously considering getting me a pair of hot pink ones, maybe with hot green polka dots...no really, it's true!  Her little Zachary and Lyndon were there to cheer her on!

 Campbell, Jill and Dawson

Blaine with his family and our friends Donna and Grayson...all race finishers!

Events are always better if your mom is there to cheer you on!

 Little Lyndon

These feet ran a total of 27.9 miles, or 45 kilometers this morning!

Mesa Falls

Tuesday, June 4, 2013

Today was an adventurous day for us.  We went with a "Hiking Group" from my ward,(which consisted of about 8 to 10 moms and their kids), to Mesa Falls.  We went on a short walk to the falls, then had a picnic on a grassy area. The mosquitos were bad, but the company was great.  After most of the group left for home, my friend Darcy and I took our kids on a hike from the upper falls to the lower falls.  We sang songs to keep the bears away, and found all kinds of interesting ways to keep our kids walking!  It was fun to be in the great outdoors!  This makes me so excited for camping this summer!

Have you ever read the book "Lean on Me" by Jack Weyland?  This is the spot where I imagine the ring was dropped!

Little Italy in Rexburg

May 2013

So Blaine has been on this bread making kick ever since Afton was born.  It started out becoming "Homemade Bread Night" on Wednesdays, the days he would get off early from school and work.  Believe me, I have been loving it!  Don't have to cook dinner, and have wonderful different kinds of homemade bread, what more could I wish for?!  This particular night was one of my favorite bread nights because our house smelled like a little Italian bakery with the homemade breadsticks and pizza.  This is definitely a tradition I am okay with keeping around for a while!

Aftons Blessing Day

April 20, 2013

Today was one of those days that you just wish time would stand still.  It was a day with family and friends as Afton received her name and a blessing.  Some favorites in my day included:

Seeing Baby Afton all dolled up in white (Thanks Gramma Sherri for the beautiful homesewn dress, Melissa for the homemade headband, and Jill for the bracelet and crocheted Mary Jane shoes)

Falling even more in love with Afton's Daddy

Watching Big Afton love on Baby Afton

Having all her living grandparents and great grandma there

Spending the day with my little family

Having a lot of people there that mean the world to us

Metting Baby Clara for the first time! (Sorry no photo)

Realizing how lucky I am to be the mommy to a beautiful, healthy baby angel girl!

What a perfect day!

Our Little Family

Here are some recent family photos.  Yes, we have good days and bad days.  Yes, some days I don't shower until 10 pm.  Yes, sometimes I am an emotional basketcase when Blaine gets home from work.  Yes, some mornings I wake up and realize I can't remember if I brushed my teeth the night before or not.  Yes, I often realize that I am the luckiest person in the world to have Blaine, Hyrum and Afton and to have a newborn at our house again.  Even though our house is a mess most of the time, and we don't eat dinner until 7 pm every night, we are in heaven.  I have had so many moments lately where it has hit me like a brick and I realize I am so blessed.

Afton's First Photoshoot

I made some little backdrops in our house and took some pictures of this darling angel!  Here they are, pictures of Afton's first photoshoot...

Hyrum Meets Baby Afton!

Hyrum instantly fell in love with "Baby Affit".  He is such a good big brother!
