Little Kiss from Heaven

Summer 2013

I am afraid that I won't be able to find the right words to put down to tell you how my heart feels about this little angel that joined our family this past February.

Little "Miss Afton" is what we most frequently call her.  Sweet Afton, Afty, little pumpkin, little sweetie, little angel and little girl are some other nicknames for this little miss.

Just a couple weeks ago, Blaine and I came across a phrase that most adequately describes how our hearts feel about this precious little girl.  A new nickname, and perhaps one of my favorites, is "Little Kiss from Heaven."  The reason why this one is my favorite is because it really describes what she is....just that, a little kiss from heaven.  Her presence in our home reminds me of where we all came from.  She reminds me of God's love for me and for my family and for all of His children.  Afton, or "My Little Kiss from Heaven" reminds me that life is so good!  She reminds me to slow down and smell the roses.  She has a calming effect on people.  I have had a couple of friends/family members lately tell me just how calming she is.  It is not so much that she is mellow, because she likes to play and jump and scream...and yes she likes to scream loudly.  It is more that she just brings calmness and love with her wherever she goes.  I think that is a gift that God has given her, is to bring calm to a crazy world.

So here is to you, My Sweet Afton.  I love you for always!

I love her dark gray eyes.  I love her long eyelashes that lay down on her cheeks when her eyes are closed. 

I love her round little cheeks.  Both Blaine and I can't get over the shape of her chin.  I love her long fingers!

I love how her wispy baby hair blows in the wind.  I love the way her face looks when she has sunshine in her eyes!

I love that she love that she loves to snuggle.  She loves us to kiss her cheeks and leave our lips there, with our faces snuggled together.  This is the way she most often falls asleep at church or when we are out.

I love that she loves her daddy.  I love when she grabs our shirts with her little hands, like in this picture above.

I love when she just looks at me with her big beautiful eyes!

She makes me laugh every day!

This particular day, we matched at church and didn't even plan it!  This is one of the most rewarding times as a mother to me, when you get to snuggle with your babies as long as you want to at church and family parties and outings and don't have to hand them off to anyone.

(Above) I love Afton in this little tennis dress and headband.  It is my favorite outfit on her right now.

Afton, just like Hyrum did when he was a baby, loves the door-frame jumper.  She seriously is happy in it for an hour.  This photo below, is my favorite face of hers while she is jumping!

When people walk up to Afton, she gives them a smile as big as this one in the picture above.  Her smile melts my heart!  I am afraid for when she gets old enough to start asking me for things....will I be able to resist her darling smile?  Only time will tell.

Afton and Daddy love to snuggle.  She is the best cuddle bug!

Afton loves to be held in front of me and loves to jump!  She is getting to be a lot more active.

I know these photos and words don't do this little angel justice, but hopefully it has given you a glimpse of why I know I am the luckiest lady in the whole entire world.  To have my sweet little Afton here is a "Little Kiss from Heaven!"
